Terms of Service
1. What ClaimCompass is
A contingency surplus-recovery service that helps you claim surplus/excess proceeds you are already owed after a tax or foreclosure sale. We do not buy your funds and we do not provide legal or tax advice.
2. No guarantee
We cannot guarantee any recovery, amount, or timeline. Outcomes depend on the holding office, deadlines, and your eligibility.
3. Fees
No upfront fees, and no fee unless you are paid. Our fee is 30% of the net amount you actually recover, stated in your signed Agreement. There are no separate hourly or processing charges.
For surplus that has been turned over to the Maryland Comptroller's abandoned-property office, we will not charge a fee on a claim signed within 24 months of the funds being delivered there, consistent with Md. Commercial Law §17-325.
4. You can do this yourself for free
You have the right to pursue your surplus directly through the holding county/court at no cost. By using ClaimCompass you choose our help for convenience and expertise.
5. Your responsibilities
Provide accurate information and the documents needed to file. Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to claim funds you are not entitled to.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel for any reason, in writing, within 5 business days of signing your Agreement, and you owe nothing. You may also revoke our authorization at any time before funds are disbursed (see your Agreement for how the fee applies if we have already filed a valid claim).
7. Privacy
Your data is handled under our Privacy Policy.
8. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Maryland law. Any dispute will be resolved in the Maryland county where the relevant property is located. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
